Takeaways

There are loads of takeaway options. Here are a few of our favourites:

Jemfish Fish and Chipper is a short drive up Manning St. past the Surf Beach. Great, reasonably priced fish and proper hand-cut chips. And while you’re waiting, you’ll find Kiama’s best Bottleshop next door.

Harbour View Thai is on Terralong, a few doors down from Tory’s hotel (aka Kiama Inn). Simple menu but plenty of choice. They use proper Thai ingredients (i.e. not carrots). The default setting for most Thai places outside the cities is bland. Be sure to ask for spicy if you want something with a bit more character. Nip next door for a cheeky beer while it’s being prepared. Closed Wednesdays.

Da Orlando - Award-winning take-away pizza with an extensive and interesting menu. We ordered online and picked up ten minutes later. Really good and recommended. You’ll need to drive there from the Villa. Or there is mention of delivery on the website (un-tried). Incidentally, Da Orlando is located on a small but perfectly formed row of shops that includes Manning Street Cellars (best bottle shop in town), Jemfish (best hand-cut chips in the Illawarra) and Top Shop (the only place outside of Woolies selling groceries) - so you can pick up an nice bottle of something to go with that pizza and a bag of chips to round out the dinner of champions! Good times.

Parfait is Kiama’s award-winning bakery on Manning St. And, if you’re a pie person, you’re going to want to go here - the Beef and Potato pie is excellent. And affordable - 7 dollars and change (at time of print). But so are the coffees, cakes and breads. There are plenty of picnic tables within a 2-minute walk (head towards the water), so you can either take yours to go or eat in - your call!
